As a faculty member, all teachers lead as positive educators and role models for the School community of students, parents, alumni, trustees and colleagues. Faculty member’s general duties involve teaching 4 classes, coaching two sports or the equivalent, advising students, leadins an exploration class, advising an activity, and attending school events and school year faculty orientation. The typical student load is 55-65 students.
Summary of the MS English Position:
The candidate must be able to teach a range English classes at the middle school level; possess positive interpersonal skills, enjoy working with middle school students, and have the energy and interest to contribute to the school community in a variety of areas.
Qualified candidates should have:
success teaching middle school or high school English or related teaching roles
enthusiasm for reading and writing and the flexibility to teach the skills associated with them to a range of ages from sixth to eighth grades
interest in working with colleagues to develop curriculum and program
comfort with the use of technology in the classroom
a growth mindset that allows them to take on new challenges
A degree in English or related field
teaching experience or equivalent
Physical and psychological demands:
Must be able to lift 25 lbs independently and up to 50 lbs with assistance from another team member using appropriate lifting practices. The employee is frequently required to stand at least 70% of time, 15% walking, and 15% sitting.
Must be physically and mentally capable of performing multiple tasks (such as phone calls, computer work, and receiving visitors all while teaching and assisting students) and be capable of consistently functioning well in a fast-paced environment.
Must have a strong commitment to, and ability to execute, superior service to parents and students.
Must be able to accept critical feedback and direction in a professional manner.
