We seek an experienced Academic Technology Coordinator to join our technology team in a full-time, 12-month position located at the Middle and Upper School campus beginning July 1, 2019, and reporting to the Director of Technology.
You will work in a professional, learning, sharing and collaborative Technology Department that values humor and humility while getting the job done; a good fit within our culture is important. We expect you to say "I’m not sure, I’ll find out who we should talk to" or "Let’s make sure I understand this..." as needed while working in our community. As you learn our culture and standards, you will be comfortable suggesting new approaches for teachers and supporting users that may be in high-pressure situations that require level-headed assistance. We hope you are a self-starter who sees problems, proposes solutions and is eager to learn new things and work with a wide variety of people.
Coordinate a team of Middle and Upper School Academic Technology Specialists
Work in close collaboration with the Lower School Academic Technology Specialists
Coordinate closely with the Middle and Upper School faculty around technology initiatives to ensure a consistent set of technology-related outcomes
Promote technology use that supports excellent teaching and learning
Inspire, encourage, and support Middle and Upper School faculty with creative and interdisciplinary technology projects
Create, promote, and facilitate technological professional development for faculty and administration
Train students, faculty, and administration to use hardware or software in one-on-one or group settings
Teach technology mini-courses (Robotics or Computer Science)
Lead at least one after-school technology club (Robotics or Computer Science)
Participate in at least one other after-school technology club
Conduct technology integrations in classes with other MS faculty
Create online training and documentation
Test, troubleshoot, and support software and hardware used by students and faculty
Collaborate closely with the Director of Technology, the Technology Department, and various members of faculty and administration across all divisions
Support the needs of the Technology Department as requested
Specialize in discipline-specific support of technology (arts, science, etc.)
Find other ways to incorporate exciting applications of technology into school life
B.A. or B.S. degree
Deep understanding and appreciation of theories of learning and pedagogy
At least four years’ experience in an educational technology integration role in a school environment
Experience conceiving, building, and conducting professional development opportunities for faculty and administration
Experience teaching Computer Science, or Technology courses
Experience in programming, robotics, 2D design, 3D design, making, or (ideally) many of these
Demonstrated leadership in support and application of educational technology
Experience supporting and troubleshooting multiple computing platforms (macOS, Chrome OS, and Windows are used)
Quickly learn unfamiliar tools in order to quickly help others use them
Entrepreneurial and self-motivated mindset: imagine and build new and exciting opportunities for students and employees
Exceptional collaborative skills, interpersonal abilities, and patience
Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills, including the ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and follow through to completion
