Renbrook School seeks a full-time learning specialist to join their Student Support Services department beginning in the 2019-20 school year. The ideal candidate should have prior experience as a learning specialist. Excellent communication skills, ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents, and strong organizational skills are essential.
Providing small group and one-on-one intervention to students in kindergarten through eighth grade, using a pull out/push in classroom model.
Communicating with teachers, families, and outside specialists in order to coordinate and support students.
Collaborating with teachers and administrators through a combination of team meetings and one-on-one meetings to discuss a student's progress and areas needing further support.
Ability to support children in both literacy and math preferred.
Participating in parent/teacher conferences and communicating assessment and progress for each student receiving support.
Engaging in shared Lower School and Upper School responsibilities such as arrival and dismissal duties.
Creating Formal Accommodation Plans from neuro and psycho-educational testing, running staffing meetings, and educating teachers annually on modifications and accommodations needed for students with FAPs.
Bachelor’s degree required
Teaching experience as a learning specialist required
Experience administering a variety of assessments to track and support student growth, including DRA2, MAP, Phonics Inventories, Running Records, etc.
Training in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Lindamood-Bell, or similar programs, desired
A strong knowledge base in the area of learning differences, especially dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, as well as a deep knowledge base regarding ADHD
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
