Island Pacific Academy is currently accepting resumes for an Secondary (6-12) Student Support Counselor for the 2019-2020 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience providing students with individual and small group counseling in a variety of settings and assessing students for social, emotional, or mental health concerns.
Responsibilities include assisting with conflict resolution, providing crisis intervention, assisting faculty with behavior management, providing students with stress-reducing strategies, and providing workshop opportunities to faculty, staff, and parents that provide them with additional skills to better support students’ needs. Other attributes of an ideal candidate include an understanding of learning differences, and the ability to work collaboratively with Counseling team to meet K-12 needs and initiatives.

Required candidate qualifications include:
Master's Degree in School Counseling or Social Work
Minimum 2-3 years experience working in a school setting providing Counseling services
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
A willingness to be an active and participating member of an innovative and caring group of professional educators
Ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse student and parent population
Willingness to participate in ongoing professional learning
Strong problem solving skills to support student success
Ability to use reasoning to evaluate information and determine/recommend appropriate course of action
