Emma Willard School seeks a dynamic leader for the Director of Practicum position. Our unique Practicum program connects girls with mentors, faculty advisors, coaches, peers, alumnae, and others to guide and support them through the exploration of opportunities including internships that allows them to gain real-world, hands-on experience in a profession, subject, or sport of their interest. Students choose their practicum—and sometimes two or three by the time they graduate—based on either a new or previous interest. The program is open to all grades, giving ample time to try a new experience or dive deep into an existing passion. This position will coordinate all aspects of the practicum program including establishment of opportunities, liaison with programs and mentors, and coordination of all facets of transportation.
The ideal candidate would have experience cultivating relationships with partner organizations. S/he would have the ability to form positive relationships with students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. The candidate needs to have a willingness to be ‘on call’ daytime, evening and weekend. S/he would have a commitment to detail and comprehensive planning, implementation and evaluation. This person should have patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines. The candidate must have outstanding verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to guide practicum mentors and be adaptable to individual circumstances. The candidate should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
