Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for two Lower School Teachers for the 2019-20 school year. Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
The teachers will teach small groups of 10 to 15 students per class and will primarily teach Reading and Math. One teacher will teach kindergarten and pre-first students and one teacher will teach second and third grade students. In addition to managing the daily affairs of a classroom, teachers communicate frequently with parents and collaborate with their grade level team members to develop curriculum that is motivating and age appropriate. Faculty members are expected contribute to the Calvert community as coaches, club advisors, and will serve on school committees on occasion.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with prior teaching experience. A Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
