The Director of Enrollment is responsible for managing all enrollment and retention efforts for The Grosse Pointe Academy. He or she works closely with the Academy leadership team to admit and retain mission-appropriate students and must communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of constituents, including students, parents, faculty, coaches, and alumni. He or she maintains up-to-date enrollment statistics and reports on these regularly. The Director of Enrollment reports to the Head of School and works closely with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator on all admissions-related marketing initiatives.
Leadership and Management
Develops long-term recruitment strategies in accordance with enrollment priorities and mission.
Works with senior leadership, faculty, Board of Trustees and other school constituencies to develop and articulate admissions priorities and systems.
Provides regular updates to senior leadership, the Board and faculty on the results of admissions initiatives.
Educates faculty and administration on enrollment and financial aid opportunities and challenges, and the faculty’s unique role in recruitment and retention.
Works collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to create marketing plans and calendars, develop admissions publications and programs to help increase the school’s visibility in the market.
Works in close coordination with the Business Office to manage the departmental budget and financial aid awards.
Organizes and manages all activities to attract a diverse class of high-quality applicants to the school.
Oversees all recruitment initiatives for the Admissions Office.
Conducts presentations and outreach meetings (e.g., school fairs, business connections) to promote the school in the local community.
Designs and executes multiple admission events over the course of the year (e.g., open houses, shadow days, tours, and other visits).
Responds to applicant inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Leads personalized campus tours for each visiting family.
Counsels prospective candidates and their families through the admissions process, including application status updates and reminders.
Oversees the evaluation and admission selection process for all prospective students.
Supports new families throughout their transition to GPA.
Financial Assistance Activities
Works closely with the Head of School and Business Office Manager to determine guidelines for financial assistance and merit-based awards.
Advises families through financial assistance application and assessment process, including counseling on submission of required documents and addressing associated questions.
Reviews applications to determine eligibility for financial aid funds.
Runs merit scholarship award process at select grade levels.
Develops strategic plan for use of financial assistance resources.
Oversees enrollment and re-enrollment process, including preparation of online contracts and financial aid awards.
Monitors enrollment contract submissions to enforce deadline compliance.
Schedules and meets with families considering re-enrollment at the Academy.
Collaborates with external consultant to run international student program.
Organizes programs and visits for prospective international families.
Recruits and supports domestic homestay families.
Serves as Primary Designated School Officer, ensuring compliance with all federal visa regulations.
Supports international students, their families, host families and teachers in transition to GPA.
Communicates directly with families and external consultant on a regular basis.
