Position 2: Upper School History Teacher
The History and Social Sciences Department seeks two experienced Upper School History Teachers for full time positions beginning in the 2019-20 school year. Teaching responsibilities will include a broad range of courses in global and U.S. histories. The department is in the midst of a multi-year curriculum renovation and candidates should be excited to participate creatively and collaboratively in designing a forward thinking, student-centered program. The History department is committed to representing multiple cultures and narratives in its approach and the successful candidate will enthusiastically embrace an inclusive approach to engaging students in historical study. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, Upper School teachers also serve as an Advisor to a small group of students.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
significant experience with high school students
broad historical knowledge
commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the classroom, curriculum, and community
creativity and flexibility in pedagogical approach
excellent writing skills
experience in developing effective curriculum
ability to connect with students in support of their learning and development as young adults
desire to find and use Service Learning opportunities effectively to deepen and enrich students’ understanding
commitment to collaborating with other educators, both in History and other disciplines, with respect to content, pedagogy, Service Learning, and use of technology
experience and enthusiasm for incorporating technology into teaching and learning
Master’s Degree preferred
