Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a Director of Co-Curricular Programs for the 2019-20 school year. Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
The Director will oversee the after school programs, facility rentals, and school-wide community outreach events. The hours of work are Monday through Friday from 1:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. throughout the school year and will require evening and weekend hours when needed. The Director will be responsible for the following:
Operate and manage the after school care program in the lower school and Homework Center in the middle school.
Plan and oversee age-appropriate activities for students. Monitor the students to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Ensure that the after school program is compliant with licensing and state regulations.
Hire and supervise staff members and coordinate scheduling.
Manage the inventory of supplies, games, and other items needed to operate the programs.
Develop strong relationships with parents and communicate with them on a regular basis.
Oversee evening and weekend rentals of Calvert’s facilities.
Plan, coordinate, and attend school-wide community outreach events such as Bingo, Movie Nights, etc.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field. Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE OCC) requires other State certifications and Calvert will provide training, if needed. Must have a strong work ethic, be dependable, and have strong communication skills.
