Middle School Counselor/High School Placement Coordinator
International School of Brooklyn seeks a dynamic, hardworking, full-time Middle School Counselor and High School Placement Coordinator for the 2019-20 school year and beyond.
The ideal candidate is one who understands and enjoys young people (Grades 6-8) and is a skilled counselor, eager to support middle school students and to guide them and their families through the New York public and private high school admissions process.
Description of position
Meet with students as necessary, maintaining an open door for student walk-ins
Meet regularly with Division Head, learning specialists, and faculty to discuss student academic, social, and emotional needs
Oversee high school application process
Meet with students and parents to advise on high school process
Work with homeroom advisors to help them coordinate life-lesson instruction
Experience as School Counselor, School Social Worker, or School Psychologist
High School Placement experience required, with knowledge of public and private high school application process desirable
Experience working closely with faculty and parents
