Saint George’s School is an independent K-12 school, serving a population of approximately 350 students from the greater Spokane area. This position will be a full-time, exempt administrative appointment.

The Director of School Development will report to the Head of School and work closely with Board of Trustees. Duties include but are not limited to:
Develop and implement the School Development Plan
Oversee all aspects of the development program, including fundraising, stimulating and leading the annual giving program, guiding any future capital campaigns, soliciting corporate and foundation proposals, perusing grant opportunities, supporting a strong alumni association, and active event planning such as the Annual Fund Kickoff, Gala, alumni events, etc.
Oversight of the Annual Fund Campaign— including, but not limited to cultivating a culture of giving and gratitude across all constituencies and socio-economic strata. Personally identify, solicit, and steward potential donors and annual donors. Maintenance of the donor database and donor recognition. Create and implement a giving opportunity for international families. At the end of the fiscal year, create an Annual Fund Report to be released on the SGS website.
Work closely with the Development Committee and its chairperson, keeping each apprised of fundraising progress and of matters which must be approved by the Board of Trustees.
Build and enhance existing and new relationships with board members, parents, donors, staff, alumni and other constituents associated with Saint George’s School.
Oversight of the Auction/Gala annual event and all other fundraising/development events including but not limited to planning, implementation, budgeting, organizing volunteers and all necessary personnel.
Engaging Board members in appropriate development opportunities.
Supporting the Head of School and Board’s vision for Saint George’s as a K-12, college preparatory school focused on academics, arts, and athletics.
Serving on the Administrative Team to fulfill the goals of the Head of School and promote the mission of the school and development goals.
Attend the Development Committee meetings, providing vision, direction and support.
Establishing and maintaining a strong image that supports the school’s mission and desired positioning in the market.
Work closely with the Admissions and Marketing departments to integrate messages of advancement opportunities in publications and to develop and integrate an overarching marketing and identity strategy for the school.
Attend Parent Association (PA) meetings and coordinate development activities through the work of the PA ambassadors.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, Master’s degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector and in fundraising.
Demonstrated success in activities to coordinate, attract, and close major gift funding support for a school or other non-profit organization, including face-to-face solicitation.
Demonstrated strong written communication and interpersonal skills required.
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience with ability to adapt to new technology required.
Experience with development data systems; Raisers Edge experience preferred.
Experience in development and marketing required including experience with planned giving and tax implications.
Commitment to and familiarity with the independent school environment desired.
Demonstrated success in grant writing desired.
