Holton-Arms School invites applications for the position of Middle School Mathematics Teacher / Coordinator. In addition to reduced teaching responsibilities in the Middle School, candidates should expect to participate in myriad other facets of the middle school program, including the following:
Modeling exemplary math instruction
Working with teachers to assess individual student learning and design differentiated learning approaches
Working with small groups and individual students to further differentiate instruction
Leading middle school math curriculum development and alignment ensuring consistency, continuity, and coherence within the grade and across divisions
Providing job-embedded professional development learning workshops for faculty
Working with admissions and the mathematics department for appropriate placement of students
Communicating with parent community about the MS math program and conducting parent workshops to help families best support students at home
Leading Middle School math club and coordinating math-related enrichment activities
Collaborating closely with the lower school math coordinator and the Math Department Chair to ensure programmatic and instructional cohesion school-wide and to plan professional development
Participating in curriculum development teams over the summer
The successful candidate for the position should have the following qualifications:
At least five years of mathematics teaching experience, with at least three of those years being at the middle school level
A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related field (Master's degree preferred in either Mathematics or Secondary Education with a Mathematics focus)
Experience leading the design and implementation of mathematics curriculum
A firm grasp of mathematics concepts taught through pre-calculus
Excellent communication skills and a sense of humor
