We seek to hire an enthusiastic and experienced Middle School History-Social Science teacher with a global perspective to teach the 6th grade curriculum (Ancient World) and join the 6th grade team.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Plans and implements department curriculum
Understands sequential progression and scope and sequence in History and the Social Sciences
Incorporates appropriate and varied methods, materials, and technologies into teaching.
Utilizes challenging, thoughtful, fair, and varied tools appropriate to the objectives of the course for evaluating and assessing student progress, performance and proficiency.
Gives timely, personal, and meaningful feedback
Maintains a culture of care and respect for a diversity of opinions; inspires students to be risk-takers and collaborators who are enthusiastic about learning.
Treats students equitably, is sincerely interested in them as individuals, and responds to their needs.
Holds high expectations for all students and communicates these expectations clearly and regularly.
Continued professional development in both subject matter and methods of teaching.
Collaborates with department colleagues, grade level colleagues, and department chair to deliver a program that is consistent with school-wide expectations and standards.
Responds to evaluations from supervisors and students professionally and constructively.
Actively engages in the life of the school in roles such as student advisor, electives teacher, club mentor, and advocates for the school in the broader community.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years prior classroom experience, demonstrate proficiency with technology in and out of the classroom, and bring an understanding of adolescent girls and adolescent issues to his/her teaching.
A Bachelor’s degree is required and an advanced degree is highly preferred.
Prior classroom teaching experience required: middle school is highly preferred.
B.A. or B.S. in a History-Social Science field; graduate degree or commensurate experience preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in both subject matter and pedagogy.
