The Phelps School seeks an instructor for middle and upper school math classes for the 2019-20 school year. Ideally, the teacher will be prepared to teach A.P. Statistics as well as other courses.
Teachers at Phelps serve as advisors to as many as five students and are fully involved in co-curricular programs as coaches, activity sponsors, weekend trip chaperones, and community service project supervisors. Some reside on campus in faculty housing and serve as dorm parents (supervisors). They are dynamic men and women dedicated to helping each boy become a better man – in and out of the classroom. They enjoy working with students in relatively small classes and engaging collaboratively in curriculum design and constant professional improvement. They strive to integrate technology into their teaching and to help improve students’ creativity and critical thinking skills.
PA Teaching Certification (Secondary Math) or coursework to obtain PA Private Academic Certification
Facility with a variety of instructional methods and assessments
Ability to create a learning environment that addresses and supports each student’s needs
Additional Salary Information: In addition, the teacher may serve on the residential life staff, with campus housing provided. Salary is determined accordingly.
