Lawrence Academy has an opening for a full-time Spanish teacher starting in August 2017. Candidates must have a strong background in Spanish with a preference towards a native speaker. Independent high school experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching upper level Spanish, be flexible, highly motivated, and resourceful. Lawrence Academy’s language department puts students at the center of the classroom experience. Engagement, energy, communication, and innovation are paramount to the curriculum. Candidates should be comfortable using technology in the classroom, teaching language and culture, and teaching for proficiency. This full-time position will be responsible for teaching four sections of Spanish and being fully involved in school life as articulated below.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty members are fully involved in the curricular, co-curricular (primarily athletics), and extracurricular programs at the school. Interested candidates should expect to live in a dormitory, but on-campus (non-dorm) or off-campus housing might be an available alternative.
