Rossman School seeks an experienced full-time Librarian for the 2019-20 school year.
The Librarian is responsible for managing the Ball Library which serves Junior Kindergarten through sixth-grade students. An integral member of the Rossman School team of educators, he/she works closely with the Division Directors, the Technology Coordinator, classroom teachers and parents, and reports directly to the Head of School.
The Librarian is a key leader in fostering a strong culture of reading within the school community. Specific duties include:
Collaborate with all homeroom classroom teachers, specialist teachers, and the Technology Coordinator to support engaging curriculum and teach research and information technology skills.
Instruct students in the use of all library resources and technology tools, including Noodletools and online databases.
Assist students with reading selection through an active, working knowledge of books and authors and the reading levels of each student.
Plan and execute regular author visits to inspire our young readers and writers.
Develop and implement new library initiatives and programs.
Manage library book circulation, as well as the library budget and purchases to maintain a diverse range of children’s and young adult literature.
Collaborate with teachers and Technology Coordinator to teach digital citizenship curriculum.
Preferred qualifications include:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science, Media Technology, and/or Education
Experience in an elementary/middle school library setting
Proficiency with library technology skills, knowledge of G Suite and library databases
Commitment to Rossman School’s mission and philosophy of education
