Chandler School is located in Pasadena, California eleven miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles. The school is situated on a four-acre campus in the East Arroyo Historic Preservation Neighborhood overlooking the Arroyo Seco and the Rose Bowl Stadium.
Chandler is a non-denominational, co-educational day school enrolling 450 students across two divisions (k-5 and 6-8) in kindergarten through grade eight.
Chandler's mission is to provide each student with the highest quality and most academically challenging education in a nurturing, balanced and diverse environment.
The Physical Education teacher reports to the Athletic Director. The Physical Education teacher is a member of the Physical Education team with responsibilities for the day to day operations of the Physical Education Department and Athletic Teams.
Experience and Qualifications
Strong candidates will have 2+ years working with school age children in a school environment. A background as an athlete in high school and college is preferred. Candidates must have a degree in physical education or related field. Candidates must have excellent verbal skills, interpersonal skills, and strong classroom management skills, be able to work on a team and a sense of humor.
Work together with a team of physical education teachers in planning and implementing a k-6 physical education program with an emphasis on setting goals, self-improvement and participation.
Must have a background and experience to be able to coach 7th/8th grade athletic team after school in at least 3 of the following sports, football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, track, baseball and softball.
