TMI Episcopal is seeking a full-time middle school Math teacher. The position will commence in August 2019. A strong candidate will have at least 3-5 years of prior teaching experience in independent schools.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience teaching middle school math, including Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1. The candidate will have experience in a variety of modes of teaching and be highly skilled at differentiated instruction.
Teaching five sections of middle school math.
Serving as an advisor to a small group of students
Fulfilling duties as assigned throughout the day
Contributing to the broader TMI community by participating in extracurricular activities to possibly include the athletic program, residential life program, and/or club programs
Bachelor's degree in math, education, or related field required; Master’s degree in math, teaching, or education preferred
Three to five years teaching experience at the middle school level, preferably in an independent school setting
Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that are structured, multi-sensory and targeted to individual learning styles in order to facilitate active learning and assist students in achieving their potential.
Ensure that curriculum, lesson plans and evaluations are in accordance with established school procedures and pedagogy.
Collaborate with department team to achieve optimum outcome for each student.
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials, and equipment.
Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the disciplinary systems of the School.
Provide appropriate feedback and encouragement to students on their work.
Monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
Participate in department, grade-level, school, and parent meetings.
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
Prepare classroom for class activities.
Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
