Friends Select School seeks a part-time (1.5 courses) English teacher for the 2019-20 school year. Courses taught may be a combination of the following: World Literature, Journalism, and Creative Nonfiction Writing. The English program at Friends Select emphasizes close reading, analytical and creative writing, departmental collaboration, and a grasp of literature from multicultural perspectives. The ideal candidate will have experience in an independent school setting, familiarity with Quaker education, and a commitment to social justice through literature. The ideal candidate will also have flexibility with schedule and the ability to challenge students at the highest academic level as well as assist students who need more guidance.
