Perkiomen School is looking for a qualified artist to join our teaching team and Fine Arts Department. We seek an intern/fellow who is comfortable across multiple visual arts mediums, two- and three dimensional. A background in ceramics, sculpture, or graphic design would be advantageous. Additionally, this position may participate in active department meetings.
This intern/fellow should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment, and will finish the placement having gained broad experience in various aspects of private boarding education and visual arts education in particular.
Assist in teaching trimester-long art classes, each class period is 50 minutes long.
Teach/co-teach visual art classes to middle school students (grades 6-8) during elective times (50 minute sessions, four times a week).
Teach/co-teach visual art classes to upper school students (grades 9-PG) during elective times (50 minute sessions, four times a week).
Plan and implement curriculum for art. Curriculum includes, but is not limited to, painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture and printmaking.
Provide opportunities for students to explore issues of identity and culture through art.
Display art around campus, curate student art for various art contests, and for end of year art celebration.
Work with homeroom, math, social studies, and science teachers to integrate other subject areas into the art when possible.
Plan and conduct projects for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question and investigate.
Collaborate on art for all school publications and programs, including front and back cover designs and inside art.
Manage art supplies, equipment, tools, and classroom, kiln, and storage space
Create a well-organized, safe, and student-centered room that reflects an art environment.
Perkiomen School is looking for an undergraduate/graduate student, or a professional artist in Eastern Pennsylvania who has a passion for the Visual Arts and Education. This person should have appropriate verbal and written communication skills, with knowledge of current trends in the Arts. Applicants for the positionthat have demonstrated skill in conducting art classes or programs in visual art, textile art, sculpture and 3D Art will be preferred.
