Rivermont Collegiate is a co-educational, independent school offering an exclusively college preparatory program. Its eight and one-half acre campus is located on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River in Bettendorf, Iowa. Founded in 1884, Rivermont is the only Preschool through 12th Grade college preparatory, day and boarding school in the Quad Cities.
Rivermont Collegiate is searching for a Dorm Parent for the 2019-2020 school year to supervise upper school boarding students and reside in the dormitory. Candidates should have experience overseeing and coordinating activities while ensuring good relations among boarding students; including equitable enforcement of Rivermont standards and rules. Students enrolled at Rivermont Collegiate come from a variety of different racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.Every employee is expected to embrace and celebrate this diversity in the dormitory and community at large.
Each Dorm Parent reports to the Director of Residential Life and ultimately the Headmaster. A Dorm Parentis the primary point of contact for boarding students and will work closely with them; building a sense of community and respect in the dorm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Following rules and policies of the Residential Life Handbook.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
Creation of positive dormitory atmosphere.
Supervision of students at meals.
Homework and study hall supervision.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The optimal candidate will be mature, organized, creative and energetic. The Dorm Parent will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, or related dormitory experience, with a strong interest in working with adolescents. In addition, the ideal candidate will be:
Available to supervise dorm students 5 days per week and every other weekend, including weekday afternoons.
Interested in creating activities for students, assisting with homework, serving as a positive and respectful role model, mentoring students, and creating and maintaining a safe and disciplined “home” environment.
Candidates should also expect to be available on non-school days, when the dormitory is open, including some school vacations and holidays.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS
A current driver’s license will be required, along with the ability to drive a 12-passenger van. A criminal multi-state background check is required and must be successfully completed before employment can begin. A valid CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.

Technologically literate and able to guide and direct students’ appropriate use of technology.
Flexible and have a spirit of adventure—no two days are the same at a school.
