An independent school in Norfolk, VA is searching for a motivated and experienced Compliance Manager to guarantee that our facility and security processes and related transactions follow all relevant legal and internal guidelines. Your duties will include reviewing employee work, developing compliance policies, and responding to policy violations. The ideal candidate will be professional, highly-analytical, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Develop and review school compliance policies which include the compliance of facility and security operations.
Advise management on the school’s compliance with laws and regulations through detailed reports.
Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations.
Perform regular audit of school procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risk.
Assess school operations to determine compliance risk.
Prepare necessary solutions to drive the school to full compliance which may include purchasing equipment and the management of assets related to the compliance program
Coordinate with federal and state regulators as required.
Plan, implement and oversee all risk-related programs and staff.
Oversee and participate in the crisis team, building and grounds committee, lockdown drills, tornado drills, and fire drills.
Ensure all procedures are actively in place for security cameras, employee badges, and visitor’s onsite each day.
Schedule replacement studies as needed related to preventative maintenance related to facility.
Create and coordinate proper reporting channels for compliance issues.
Write and distribute company compliance communications internally and externally.
Coordinate and schedule required compliance training for employees.
Coordinate and schedule required compliance training for outsourced security.
Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business management or a related field.
3 – 5 years’ proven experience in a compliance officer role.
Good knowledge of legal requirements and procedures.
Brilliant oral and written communication skills.
Highly-analytical with strong attention to detail.
