The Athletics Director is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing the Atlanta International School primary and secondary school athletics programs.

Supports student learning and achievement through cooperative effort and best practices.
Supports and promotes the goals of the IB program.
Supports and advances international education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, organize and oversee a comprehensive whole school athletics program; ensure program objectives are aligned with the school’s mission and core values.
Lead the development, implementation and periodic review of the athletics department strategic plan.
Lead and evaluate the Assistant Athletic Director, Athletics Administrative Assistant, Athletics Trainer and Athletics Interns.
Coordinate and oversee the recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation and development of coaches and trainers.
Liaise with the Heads of Division to ensure student compliance and to help uphold high academic and behavior standards.
Negotiate team schedules with sports league officials; attend league meetings as required or as appropriate.
Oversee the establishment of sports and program policies and procedures; monitor and adjust as necessary to ensure overall effectiveness.
Work in conjunction with the Director of Operations to ensure proper maintenance and repairs of facilities.
Liaise with the Director of Operations regarding rental of facilities.
Work in conjunction with the Senior Manager of Health Services to ensure that health and safety measures and policies are in place and adhered to in order to ensure safety of the student athletes.
Work in conjunction with AIS security to ensure the security and safety of students, players and visitors.
Serve as liaison to parent booster organization; assist with fund-raising as required or necessary.
Work with the Head of Operations and Finance to plan an effective annual athletics budget.
Oversee the preparation of communication, publicity and information materials that enhance participation and accurately inform participants, parents, spectators and the public.
Preparation of facilities for all home contests and to arrange transportation for all away contests.
Ensure that all events related to athletics are conducted to a high standard and in alignment with the guiding principles of AIS.
Represent AIS at all GHSA, MAAC (and other) meetings.
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Athletics Administration and/or Leadership.
Masters degree in Athletics Administration and/or Leadership preferred.
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
Diplomatic, tactful, sensitive to the opinions and needs of others
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Excellent organizational skills
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Skilled in conflict resolution and mediation.
Sense of humor.
A minimum of five years coaching experience in an independent school environment.
Valid First Aid certification from the American Red Cross, including CPR training.
