Hebron Academy is seeking an experienced and visionary school leader to serve as its Director of Upper School. This individual must embrace Hebron's mission and work creatively to further the strategic goals of the school. Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Upper School is responsible for ensuring the fulfillment of Hebron's mission within the context of the Upper School (grades nine through postgraduate). The Director of Upper School will:
Act as the educational and cultural leader of the Upper School
Take primary responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Upper School
Provide an inspiring environment that is conducive to learning, as well as a school climate which encourages teamwork and collaboration
Work with the academic leadership team to review, enhance and continually improve the Upper school's curriculum to ensure that it incorporates research-based best practices and is rigorous, innovative, culturally-responsive, and student-centered
Manage the Upper School budget
Assist in establishing guidelines for proper student conduct
Support, and work to continually enhance, the after-school and weekend programming available to students
Actively support the efforts of the Office of Admission
Oversee management and review of student records, grading, reporting and transcripts
Be a visible and enthusiastic participant at school functions
Manage student, parent, and faculty conflict resolution
Report, when requested, to the Board of Trustees, the Parents' Association, and alumni groups
In close coordination with the Head of School and Dean of Faculty, recruit and retain educators with the expertise, positive energy, and focus required to successfully serve Hebron students
Ensure compliance with the legal requirements and educational standards established by those agencies that examine and accredit Hebron Academy
At least 3 - 5 years of experience in an administrative position, preferably at an independent boarding school
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in education or school administration preferred.
Proven success working collaboratively in a fast-paced and innovative educational environment
Strong written and oral communication skills, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills required.
