Located in the Alamo Heights Section of San Antonio, St. Luke’s Episcopal School has a long tradition of academic excellence and a bright future. Affiliated with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and sharing a campus, the school is one of the premier PK-8 schools in San Antonio. Offering a distinctive curriculum that is rooted in the school’s Episcopal tradition but supported by the best current research around the developmental needs of young children, SLES offers each student the opportunity to learn and develop in a supportive, coed environment.

Desired Attributes in the next Head of School:
Outstanding communication skills – The Head must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent listening skills, effectiveness as a public speaker, and stellar interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Effectiveness in building strong, productive relationships that endure over time–Demonstrated ability to build, sustain, and deepen constructive relationships with the Board, faculty, staff, students, alumni, supporters, and the external community.
Financial Acumen – The Head should have proven experience in financial oversight, familiarity with developing and monitoring a multimillion dollar budget, and a high degree of fiscal acumen.
Enthusiasm for fundraising, enrollment growth, and other strategies to increase the financial capitalization of the School – The Head should have experience in and demonstrate appreciation for the importance of institutional advancement, fund-raising, and innovative strategies for revenue growth that will enable the school to achieve its goals.
Commitment to excellence and love of learning – It is expected that the Head will have senior leadership experience in a complex environment with experience in education and teaching experience is highly desirable. She or he should provide evidence of appreciation for quality teaching, academic achievement, and successful educational outcomes.
