As a member of the Modern Languages Department and Lower School Division, classroom teachers are responsible for teaching students in their specified grade level. Specifically, the Early Elementary French language teacher introduces beginning French speaking and listening skills to our youngest students along with building their knowledge of the culture. Additionally, all CIS teachers support the social, emotional and character development of each student in his/her class.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach French to students between the ages of four and nine years
Teach French 4-7 hours per week
Update and create curriculum in conjunction with departmental goals
Create opportunities for students to understand the culture of French speakers as well as the language
Collaborate with the other Modern Language teachers in order to establish consistent, meaningful connections for learning
Prepare progress reports and conduct conferences for students and parents each semester
Attend faculty, divisional, and in-service meetings as scheduled
Support the mission of the school through teaching, advising, and participating as a member of the faculty
Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as an ambassador for the school at Open Houses and other admissions or public relations activities
Fluency in French
Bachelor’s degree in French preferred
Minimum of 2-5 years teaching experience is preferred
Demonstrated passion for working with children and an understanding of the developmental needs of the age group
Highly skilled teacher with effective pedagogical and classroom management techniques
Effective written and oral communicator
