The Lamplighter School in Dallas, Texas, a progressive, diverse, and inclusive independent co-educational day school for students Pre-Kindergarten through fourth grade, is seeking a dynamic and innovative part-time Alternate Teacher for the first semester of the school year. This position would fulfill all responsibilities of a class teacher, according to the professional expectations of the school.

Status: Full-time; 1st Semester
Reports to: Assistant Head of Academics

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
Develop and implement curriculum
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of teaching practices and a commitment to teaching within a caring, highly academic environment
Cultivate effective professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Attend all relevant meetings and events
Engage in professional development related to The Lamplighter School education and teaching
Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Assistant Head of Academics and Head of School
Reports to the Assistant Head of Academics
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree, minimum; preferably in early childhood education or elementary education with an emphasis on early learning, 1+ years of teaching experience preferred
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of current trends and research in early learning
Skill in fostering a stimulating, accepting learning environment
Skill in working as part of a team; collaborating with colleagues
Ability to communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis and via email correspondence
Basic computer competencies
Regularly sit, talk, hear and to visually interact with students, parents, and faculty/staff.
Occasionally lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Grasp, reach and manipulate objects with hands for an extended period of time.
Periodically bend, squat, kneel, twist and reach above the shoulders.
Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
Write on whiteboard/smartboard for an extended period of time.
Able to communicate orally, in English.
Operate the following office equipment: Telephone, copier, computer, printer.
