The Shipley School is seeking an Upper School Academic Support and SEED Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.
Provide weekly Academic Support to a designated group of 9th through 12th-grade students;
Review psychoeducational testing, in collaboration with the Director of Student Support, and write Learning Profiles based on those reports;
Work with parents, teachers, class deans, Academic Dean, counselors, and Head of Upper School to support students of concern;
Teach Upper School SEED (9th grade) with a focus on Transition to Upper School, which includes skills from Positive Psychology/Education, study skills, and introduction to key people and systems in the Upper School;
All other duties as assigned.
Master's Degree in Education with a focus on reading instruction/interventions or learning support and/or special education OR Bachelor's degree plus certification in reading or other related areas;
Classroom teaching, tutoring or coaching experience;
Exceptional written and oral communication skills;
Outstanding interpersonal skills across a variety of constituencies (students, parents, trustees, faculty, community leaders, etc.) in a PreK-12 school environment;
Knowledge of independent schools is preferred, but not required;
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Google Platform.
