NSU University School invites applications for a College Counselor. Located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, NSU University School is a nonsectarian, private, junior kindergarten–grade 12, day school. The 1,850 members of the student body reflect the multiethnic and international demographics of South Florida. The upper school enrollment in 2018-19 is 775 students, and there are approximately 200 members in the Class of 2020. NSU University School is a part of Nova Southeastern University, Florida’s largest private university, and this affiliation provides students and staff members with exceptional academic opportunities and access to resources. This position provides support to students in their process of applying to and selecting a college, partner with parents, and represents the school to colleges and universities. Experience in both secondary and higher educational settings is preferable, as is a master’s degree in a related field. An active understanding of current trends and issues in college admission; an ability to work well with students, parents, faculty, and college admission officers; and knowledge of standardized testing and secondary school curricula are essential. Exemplary organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as creativity, a sense of humor, and a commitment to counsel a diverse and talented group of students through an exciting time in their lives are required. Candidates must also be willing to work closely with departmental colleagues in an energetic and collaborative setting as part of a five-member college counseling team that includes a director of college counseling, another college counselor, and an administrative assistant.
