Newtown Friends School is seeking candidates for a full time K – 8th grade Art Teacher. The position includes the following responsibilities:
Teach general art to students in grades K through 6, and art electives to students in grades 7 and 8 (electives meet 4 times per week)
Incorporate a wide range of fine arts materials into lessons and have a strong knowledge of art history, multi-cultural art, and current art trends
Incorporate digital media and technology into the classroom
Teach low-fire ceramics and fire/maintain an electric kiln
Maintain a budget, order supplies, and track purchases
Display artwork and document artwork for social media
Maintain a high level of organization in a creative and dynamic environment
Collaborate and plan with teachers to promote holistic learning
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Art or Art Education. An advanced degree is desired, as is teaching experience encompassing both elementary and middle school grades. Candidates should have a desire to mentor and support students' development of the necessary academic, social, and attitudinal skills to achieve success in today’s world. Familiarity with Quaker education is advantageous. The ability to coach is a plus.
