Northfield Mount Hermon seeks a dynamic individual to counsel students and their parents through the college selection and application process; work collaboratively with other college counselors, support staff and colleagues throughout the school to ensure that student college searches culminate in appropriate college options.
The successful applicant will have at least a bachelor’s degree in related field (master’s preferred); and at least 2 years experience in college counseling or college admission administration; experience with financial aid, merit scholarships, educational testings, summer programs, and/or year-off programs desired. Additional qualifications include excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills that include a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google products preferred. Some weekend and evening work required.
Responsibilities of the position include a combination of college counseling, student advising, resident dormitory supervision, and coaching or equivalents. Candidates who can coach an interscholastic team two out of three seasons are encouraged to apply.
Candidates should also be familiar with boarding school life, have a demonstrated interest in making a positive impact on the lives of adolescents, and experience in equity and inclusion work that supports a diverse community in a school environment.
