Overview: The Director of Development leads the team of professionals responsible for strategizing, overseeing, and implementing the overall fundraising efforts for the school.
The Director of Development:
strategizes and oversees all Development department activities and personnel.
oversees the overall fundraising strategies and implementation for the Capital, Annual and Planned Giving programs from the individual prospect strategies to the overall long-term plan, and sets annual goals for the number of prospect visits and dollars raised.
designs, implements, and oversees the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of the prospect constituency.
plans and collaborates the Head of School’s participation in fundraising and provides follow-up support to the Head of School to accomplish her goals in fundraising.
oversees the plan and strategies for the Annual Fund and assists the Annual Fund Director in goal setting, leadership donors, phonathons, alumnae and parent giving and the overall plan for the Annual Fund.
assists the Alumnae Director in developing a comprehensive plan for the program to encourage more alumnae involvement and giving.
assists in designing and implementing a formalized stewardship program.
oversees the ongoing development of the prospect research plan and the implementation of a comprehensive prospect management system and database.
strategizes and collaborates with the Communications department to ensure that all Development activities are written and produced to follow the departmental plan and the image of the school.
oversees the Development department budget.
Is a member of the Board Development Committee to provide guidance and support.
reports periodically to the Board of Trustees and the Development and Finance Committees on the activities of the Development Department.
is a member of the Leadership team and leads departmental staff team meetings.
Qualifications: An advanced degree; ten years of non-profit management experience; a minimum of five years experience within the independent school sector as a Director or other supervisory level; excellent communication and organizational skills; volunteer management skills
