Georgetown Day School, an independent school in Washington, D.C. seeks a learning specialist for the 2019-2020 school year. Primary responsibilities include working with High School students individually and in small groups on reading skills, note taking, organization, and time management; coordinating with student advisors “teacher of” meetings to interpret diagnostic testing, gather feedback regarding “at risk” students, and provide specific learning strategies to the teachers; and working closely with high school counselor, Dean of Academic Life, and other members of the student support team to support documented and non-documented students. As a diverse, inclusive school devoted to social justice and preparing our students to live and work in an increasingly globalized and multicultural society, GDS is particularly interested in professionals with demonstrated interest and experience in working in such a school setting.
Qualifications: an M.A. in Special Education is required. An M.A. and at least five years experience in school settings are preferred.
