The Baldwin School of P.R. is the premier independent, PPK-12, college preparatory, English language day school in Puerto Rico. It is also the first school authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and Diploma Program (DP) in the island’s history.
The Assistant College Counselor will serve as a staff member for a full twelve-month period. Staff members must be on duty at the school on all designated school days, orientations days and teacher workdays.
The Assistant College Counselor reports to the Director of College Counseling and is responsible for administering all aspects of the college search and admissions process, including educating students and parents about various colleges and universities, the college admissions process, admissions trends, office procedures, and standardized testing options; advising and supporting families as they journey through the college admissions process.
Must provide an official college transcript.
Bachelor's degree in related field with a minimum of 1-3 years college counseling and/or college admissions experience is strongly desired.
Ability for and passionate about interacting with Upper School students ranging in grades 9th through 12th grade.
Must possess complete fluency in English, fluency in Spanish is not required but preferred.
Possess and demonstrate commitment to the School's Mission, Vision, Pedagogy, professional development goals and overall education goals.
Demonstrate professionalism through timeliness, attendance, proper attire, language, demeanor, intra-school communications, etc.
Comply with all policies stated in the employment handbook.
Ability to work in groups/ team teaching.
The position requires energy, creativity, organization, and a strong commitment to a lively community of students and educators.
The Assistant College Counselor will meet with students from 9th to 12th grade individually and in groups to discuss the college process and individual college choices.
The Assistant College Counselor co-teaches a comprehensive college counseling class for 9th and 10th
Assist in academic counseling.
The Assistant College Counselor will be responsible for establishing and cultivating strong relationships with college admissions professionals on and off campus.
Must maintain familiarity with current trends and issues related to the college admissions process;
The Assistant College Counselor represents the School at meetings and conferences of professional associations.
Must assist in the organization of various annual events under the purview of the College Counseling Department.
