The Baldwin School is seeking an experienced full-time Middle and Upper School Drama Teacher, beginning August, 2019. We are seeking a dynamic drama educator to lead our curricular and co-curricular dramatic arts program. In addition to teaching classes in the Middle and Upper School, the Drama Teacher oversees several student productions for both divisions. The successful candidate will be interested in working collaboratively on innovative curriculum design and development, and be committed to supporting the development of student confidence through performance. As part of the Performing Arts Department, the Drama Teachers will collaborate with his/her colleagues, and other schools when appropriate, on school productions and events and in the developing a robust and thoughtful Performing Arts program. In addition to classroom responsibilities, faculty members contribute to the daily life of the school, by serving as advisors, mentoring students in co-curricular programs, actively participating in department and divisional meetings and embracing the many leadership opportunities available to Baldwin community members.

Able to engage and challenge all students utilizing well-planned lessons
Creative in instructional techniques and classroom management strategies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with students, colleagues and parents
Seeks feedback to further on-going personal and professional growth
Well organized, flexible and collaborative
Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive school community
Ability and willingness to “think outside of the box” and problem-solve when necessary
Has excitement, joy and passion for teaching Drama to Middle and Upper School students
B.A. in Drama/Theater, Theater Education or a related field, M.A. preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant teaching experience required, preferably in an independent school setting
Extensive production experience, preferably in a school setting
Interest and experience in the purposeful use of technology in the classroom
Enthusiastic support of the School’s mission and the value of an all-girls educational experience
