The Kindergarten Assistant Teacher works with the Kindergarten Head Teacher to support the operations of the Kindergarten classroom and the delivery of a developmentally appropriate, 21st century curriculum. The Assistant Teacher supports special projects and activities. The Assistant Teacher also supports the school’s behavior management system and partners with the teachers and parents to promote and develop the social, academic and emotional development of the children. The Assistant Teacher reports directly to the Lower School Principal.
In addition, the Assistant Teacher will:
Provide clerical and instructional support; set up and prepare materials for instruction
Support and assist children in learning by providing students with individualized attention
Provide regular feedback on student progress and behavior to Lead Teacher
Be aware of current childhood research through professional periodicals, professional development, and participation in conferences
A BS or BA degree in Childhood Education is preferred. Experience working with students in an independent school setting is helpful. An energetic team player with effective oral and written communication skills.
