Bridgton Academy is an independent, all-male, postgraduate boarding school located in North Bridgton, ME serving a new class of 150-170 young men each year. The Academy's Mission is to provide a program for young men in a unique, one-year postgraduate environment to prepare for the competitive rigors of college and beyond. The Academy is in its 212th year of providing exceptional academic, residential, and co-curricular growth for its students.
Bridgton's lacrosse program, in alignment with the Academy's Mission, aspires to develop young men into mature, independent, decision-making student-athletes who are prepared for college and beyond. The Head Lacrosse Coach will be engaged across the whole campus, serving a vital role in the classroom or in an administrative position, depending on the candidate's experience.
The Head Lacrosse Coach is responsible for a year-round program, managing coaching staff, and game scheduling. Responsibilities also include all aspects of leading, coaching, presenting, and, in partnership with the College Counseling Office, placing student-athletes at academically, residentially, and athletically appropriate colleges and universities.
Applications for the position will be accepted beginning May 7th, with a new coach named by June 8th. The position’s start date is immediate.
The position is full-time and features a comprehensive benefits package. In addition to a competitive salary, both on-campus housing options and school-calendar meals are offered.
At a minimum – a Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of demonstrated college level coaching experience as well as a strong, verifiable network of New England and northeastern college and high school coaches.
Demonstrated ability to recruit high character student-athletes and placing them in college programs
Exceptional organizational skills, including excellent computer skills
Understanding of independent school culture, or a willingness to work toward that understanding
Empathy, patience, tact, and collegiality
The Head Lacrosse Coach reports to two direct supervisors. The position works with the Academy Director of Athletics on oversight of all program management, operational, and budgetary concerns, while also collaborating with the Academy Director of Admissions to annually recruit and build a team of twenty five (25) student-athletes, each of whom ideally reflects the Academy’s focus on attracting high character, mission appropriate young men.
