Forsyth Country Day School is seeking a Middle School Arts Educator for the 2019 - 2020 school year. The ideal candidate will be a talented, dynamic, and empathetic arts instructor with experience teaching a range of mediums, student ages, and learning styles. The position will require coordinating the National Junior Art Honor Society and participating as an enthusiastic member of our Middle School team. The position may also require teaching a section or two of Upper School Art based on enrolment and divisional needs.
The ideal candidate will be asked to develop and implement Middle School Art and Design courses. Those classes currently cover a variety of subjects including drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design, architecture, 3D design and fashion. The ideal candidate will be asked to craft these courses to their own artistic skills and strengths while maintaining a variety of classroom experience for the students. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the elements and principles of art and design - and strive to develop student understanding of these ideas and strategies. The ideal candidate will excel in navigating the joys and challenges of teaching Middle School aged students in an Independent School environment.
This position requires a BFA, or BA with a concentration in the Arts or Art Education. An MFA, or MA in Art Education or Education is preferable. Significant interest and experience teaching should be evidenced in a resume or CV.
