The Grayson School: Visual Arts (Long-Term Substitute)
Are you passionate about sharing your love of the arts with eager young minds? Are you inspired by the chance to gain experience in gifted education and be a part of an innovative, collaborative school community?
We are looking for individuals who excel at flexible and creative thinking; who see themselves as learners rather than lecturers; who have excellent content mastery as well as solid teaching experience; who are enthusiastic, highly motivated, committed, and eager to join a community that is passionate about supporting gifted children.
You will be expected to teach small classes of no more than 8 students in grades PK-10 while fostering an effective, engaged, student-centered learning environment. The timeline for this position is August 19, 2019 - December 20, 2019. Opportunities for continued employment and professional growth are significant as the school continues to expand.
YOU MUST HAVE:
Mastery of visual arts, art history, and arts education.
A Pennsylvania teaching certificate or private academic certification (may be in process; we will help qualified candidates obtain certification).
Up-to-date (less than 1 year old) clearances prior to beginning work, including Federal Criminal History, PA State Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, TB test, Act 168, and any additional required clearances.
Sensitivity to and awareness of meeting the social and emotional characteristics of gifted children.
The ability to clearly articulate evaluations and opportunities for our students and school in both written and spoken communication.
IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF:
You have an advanced degree in education or the arts.
You have experience working with gifted children.
You have professional experience in the arts.
You have interest and/or experience in STEAM education.
You live in Manet and dream in Dali.
You believe that art is integral to humanity, and you delight in partnering with colleagues to provide rich, integrated, creative learning experiences for young people.
