Pace Academy, one of Atlanta's top independent schools, seeks a highly energetic individual as a full time Upper School Academic Coach for the 2019-20 school year. Working with the Director of the Academic Resource Center (ARC), Deans, Faculty, the Head of Upper School, the Academic Coach in the Upper School provides academic support to students on issues that affect their learning.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong organizational and problem solving skills, as well as possess an outgoing personality and the willingness to work collaboratively with learning specialists, administration, faculty and parents. The successful candidate values strong relationships while maintaining high expectations for academic work.
Strong knowledge of current best practices in literacy and math instruction, identification and remediation of learning differences and ADHD and related accommodations is essential. The ideal candidate will have multiple years of experience in an independent school setting at the upper school level. A desire to be an active member of the school community is also a plus.
This enthusiastic candidate should be prepared to spend some time during and after school hours working with individual students and participating in Pace activities and events.

Degree in Special Education or in Psychology with Special Education concentration is required.
Advanced degree preferred.
Private school experience preferred.
Experience with ADHD, learning disabilities, non-traditional learners is required
Experience teaching in middle or secondary school academics prior to specialization in Special Education preferred.
Strong sense of humor, flexibility, and a strong desire to work with adolescents is required.
Excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, and parents are essential.
Participation in faculty meetings, educational conferences, and professional development is required.
Attendance at evening and weekend functions is occasionally required.
Experience and/or ability to coach a sport is a plus.
