St. Peter’s School is an independent, coeducational, non-sectarian Preschool through Eighth Grade school, educating approximately 200 students in the center of Philadelphia for over 180 years. We are seeking a dynamic long-term substitute Fourth Grade teacher. The position will be full-time from August 2019 to December 2019. The ideal candidate will have experience planning an integrated curriculum, is committed to academic excellence and multiculturalism, and understands the social and emotional growth and development of elementary-aged children. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, and motivation to work collaboratively as a team with the current Fourth Grade teacher.
Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates strong classroom management skills
Collaborates and teaches alongside our current Fourth Grade teacher
Teaches Math, Science, History and Language Arts classes
Is responsible for ongoing assessment and communication with families and the Division Director including parent conferences, and fall report cards
Establishes positive and productive relationships with students based on mutual respect and good will
Uses a variety of teaching techniques suitable to the developmental age and needs of the students and subject matter being taught
Ensures that multicultural themes and diverse perspectives are incorporated throughout the curriculum
Provides differentiated instruction and is comfortable with student led learning.
Uses a variety of technology formats to collaborate, publish, and engage with peers, families, and colleagues
Attends faculty meetings, school events, pursues professional development opportunities, and contributes to committees on campus
Assists with additional duties as needed or assigned including recess, dismissal, and lunch
Meets all expectations regarding job responsibilities in a professional and timely manner.

A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education is required. While a Master’s degree is not required, advanced coursework or training is preferred, as well as previous teaching experience. Salary will be determined based on experience and education.
