Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA, a leader among the nation’s independent, two-year colleges, has an immediate opening for a full time Circulation Desk Coordinator in the Charles H. Trout Library.
Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the Circulation Desk Coordinator is responsible for the basic activities of the Circulation desk which also includes maintaining the Course Reserve collection. Duties include: open the library, check materials in/out of the library, shelve returned materials, answer informational and directional questions, sort through received mail and packages, assist staff in replenishing paper in printers and photocopiers, and other projects as assigned.
In addition, this position requires basic computer skills to support library patrons utilizing installed computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Google Docs, Sheets, Slides).
Implement established library policies relating to Circulation & Reserve materials
Manage automatic system overdue notices to library patrons for late circulating materials
Notify Business Office of charges against Students Accounts for unreturned library materials
Train work-study students to perform basic circulation duties, including checkout of all library materials
Assist library patrons in searching online library catalog and research databases
Participate in book weeding project
Generate library circulation reports as needed
Participate in campus committees as appropriate
Qualifications & Skills:
Attention to detail is essential
Ability to work with staff as a team and also be able to handle job duties independently
Reliable, dependable, and energetic
Strong communication and organizational skills
Basic familiarity with integrated library systems (e.g., Koha) desired
Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
Knowledge of basic database search strategies preferred
