Tandem Friends School, a co-ed, Quaker, 5th-12th grade independent day school in Charlottesville, Virginia, seeks experienced, full-time World Language Teachers to begin teaching in the 2019-20 school year. At Tandem Friends School, all fifth and sixth graders take both Spanish and Latin; older students choose from Latin, French, or Spanish.
Ideal candidates will have:
3-5 years of teaching experience and a relevant advanced degree
Experience teaching two or more of the following languages: Spanish, French and Latin
a facility with a wide range of world language pedagogies and instructional strategies
the ability to effectively differentiate within the World Language classroom; facility with instructing a wide range of language proficiencies
a strong understanding of the developmental needs of both middle and high school students
experience with student-centered teaching and learning practices
a collaborative, inclusive approach to all aspects of school life
