The Associate Director of College Counseling supports students, parents, faculty and the college counseling team to counsel students and their parents/guardians on the college search and selection process. This position reports to the Director of College Counseling. Duties include:
Providing a warm and welcoming space for enthusiastic engagement in the college search and application process.
Assisting and advising students and families of diverse backgrounds and cultures throughout the college search and selection process.
Writing letters of recommendation for college admission, scholarships, and summer programs.
Maintaining regular communication with students and their parents/guardians and updating files on assigned counselees.
Advising sophomores, juniors and seniors on course selection and course scheduling.
Keeping current with college-related activities and trends.
Developing and implementing relevant grade-level informational programs for students and their families.
Meeting with visiting college representatives and establishing and expanding working relationships through campus visits, regional programs, professional conferences, telephone conversations and written correspondence.
Being actively involved in campus life by attending extracurricular activities, chaperoning events, serving as a homeroom advisor, and other activities.
Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred. Prior work experience in college counseling and/or selective college admission. Experience , and preferably competency and leadership skills in, the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Excellent writing and public speaking skills. Enjoys working with students and collaborating with faculty and administration to meet the needs of students and their families. Proficiency in Naviance, MS Office, and social media preferred.
