Upland Country Day School is a Preschool to 9th grade independent, coeducational day school located in Kennett Square, PA. Upland employs the Harkness teaching method across all core classes in the Middle School (grades 6-9) and is only the second school in the nation to incorporate Harkness at the middle school level. The School seeks to hire an enthusiastic educator to serve as a Middle School English Teacher, Coach and Advisor, helping students live out Upland’s approach of full participation in the “four A’s” - Academics, Arts, Athletics and Attitude. The ideal candidate will:
Have a Bachelor’s degree in English and a genuine interest in working with Middle School students.
Demonstrate an innovative and energetic approach to teaching, and experience or interest in the Harkness Method.
Demonstrate knowledge of 21st Century skills, differentiated instruction and project-based learning.
Have pedagogical experience with a wide variety of technology formats, platforms and applications.
Be able and willing to coach multiple sports including: field hockey, soccer, ice hockey, or lacrosse.
Be committed to professional growth and professional sharing.
Work collaboratively with faculty to provide a rich and integrated program.
Seek to add to the vibrancy of the school community by participating in campus events and activities.
Have experience as an Advisor to Middle School students.
Founded in 1948, Upland Country Day School is a non-sectarian, independent day school
