St. Matthew’s Parish School is seeking a part-time Art teacher for grades 7 and 8. Applicant must be capable of and enjoy working with young adolescents, and display a passion for their subject. The ideal candidate will have experience with creating an art studio-based, hands-on curriculum for students as well showcase his or her own work and allow students to do the same. The Art program should foster creativity and support development of a wide variety of skills and techniques. Candidates should enjoy collaborating with colleagues and engaging in the entire school experience. The position involves collaboration with the current full-time who teaches grades K-6.This is a one-year interim position.

Primary Function and Duties:
Grades 7-8 Art Instruction:
Prepare, instruct and facilitate students in both grade-level art classes as well as Upper School electives.
Teach basic skills and techniques in a variety of media, and encourage students to take the techniques further.
Develop weekly/monthly/yearly lesson plans and curriculum to focus on skill development and creative expression.
Collaborate regularly with colleagues.
Coordinate content with homeroom teachers.
Write student progress reports.
Assist in supervising students both inside and outside the classroom, as directed by the administration.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Experience working with students in grades 7– 8 (lesson planning and teaching)
