Whittle School & Studios is an ambitious project to modernize education and build the world’s best and most innovative environment for human learning and development. Over the next decade we will be constructing 30 Pre-K-12 schools in the world’s most vibrant cities, with all of our campuses designed by the renowned architect Renzo Piano. The project is led by education entrepreneur Chris Whittle.
Our first two schools will open in the fall of 2019, located in Shenzhen, China, and Washington DC, United States.
Whittle School & Studios believes that students develop along multiple interconnected pathways: emotional, intellectual, artistic, physical, ethical, and social. Whittle School views students holistically and seeks to foster each child’s whole development. The Wellness and Physical Education Teacher motivates students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge they need to provide a strong foundation for lifelong wellness, in accordance with each student’s ability. The Wellness and Physical Education teacher will be flexible in meeting each child’s individual skills and in collaboration with departments and programs across the campus. Experience teaching Wellness and/or Physical Education, preferably in an independent school, is desired. In addition to academic content, the Wellness and Physical Education teacher will:
• genuinely enjoy the company of adolescents • be committed to developing a relationship and sense of trust with each student • seek to engage with students and the greater Whittle community both inside and outside the classroom in a variety of ways
We believe all children are naturally curious and born to be great thinkers, forming meaning from interactions with family, peers, teachers, and community. Core responsibilities of all Campus faculty members are organized loosely by the four program areas of the Whittle Ideal Candidate: (1) Core Curriculum, (2) Global Perspectives, (3) Personalized Pathways, and (4) Beyond the Core as well as those responsibilities expected as a member of a collaborative, professional learning community.

The following are highly desirable qualifications for the listed position:
• Bachelor’s degree BA/BS in specific field or post graduate work in subject matter required • Master’s level degree or above in content area preferred • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an independent school environment • Participates in professional learning communities, grade-level teams, and other collaborative communities to design and plan instructions, to improve practice, and to achieve student outcomes • Drive and energy to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Whittle School & Studios is an educational startup aiming to develop the world’s first truly global school. By 2025, we plan to open 30 campuses serving children ages 3 to 18 in the world’s most vibrant cities. We are a highly integrated learning community and will provide educational experiences to thousands of students around the globe. Our campuses are designed by world renowned architect Renzo Piano and each location will eventually accommodate 2,500 students.Based on years of research and development, our curriculum design demonstrates our commitment to a global yet personalized education, led by a new type of teacher and set within an innovative campus. Our school intends to graduate students well-versed in core academic skills, proficient as global citizens, able to converse in multiple languages, and with firsthand cultural experiences.In the fall of 2019, our first two campuses will open in Shenzhen, China and Washington, D.C.
