Oldfields School, an all girls’ international boarding and day school, grades 8-12, located in northern Baltimore County, is looking for an experienced Residential Health Center Nurse. This is a full-time, year-round residential position requiring work and on-call hours outside of regular business hours.
Responsibilities will include:
Manage 24-hour Health Center operation.
Supervise nurses and School Counselor.
Provide medical assessment and care for students.
Administer prescription and over-the-counter medication daily.
Design, implement, and manage-in collaboration with the Student Life Team-the coverage and staffing model needs of the Health Center, including an on-call schedule that may require a nurse to be on campus, as needed.
Manage retention of all required student health records before and during the school year and review and communicate necessary information to appropriate faculty and staff.
Arrange appointments for students with local physicians regularly, which may require the transportation of students.
Work directly with Athletic Trainers and athletic team coaches to manage diagnosis and treatment of student/athlete injuries.
Work in partnership with the School Counselor in assessing physical, mental, and emotional needs, with an emphasis on the safety of our students.
Administer Magnus Health Tracker software, which allows for electronic management of all health and immunization records, including records for international students
Actively participate as a member of the Health and Wellness Team.
Promote a warm and nurturing environment in the Health Center.
Maintain confidentiality of all health-related records.
Maintain knowledge of standard emergency policies and procedures.
Maintain policies, procedures, and manuals in the Health Center.
Assist with health, wellness, and safety programs at the School, including education of faculty, staff, students, and parents.
Communicate in a professional and timely manner with faculty, staff, students, and parents.
Adhere to and assist in enforcing all School policies and procedures.
Promote the mission of the School.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned for housing arrangement.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Registration and certification as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Maryland.
Three or more years of RN supervisory experience preferred.
Experience in a residential nursing program or boarding school environment preferred.
Willingness to work within a boarding school schedule, including evenings and weekends, are vital.
Experience with Magnus Health Tracker or similar software preferred.
Ability to live on-campus.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Strong leadership and team-building skills to work in collaboration with a wide range of colleagues.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Availability to work alternate shifts from week to week.
Availability to work flexible schedule during seasonal illnesses on campus.
Availability for on-call duties as assigned and as needed.
Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail.
Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Remain active for an eight-hour or more shift and sit upright for long periods of time.
Must be able to exert up to 35 pounds of force to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move objects.
