The Pembroke Hill School is seeking a full-time Middle and Upper School Latin Teacher, beginning in August 2019 for the 2019-20 school year. Pembroke Hill's Latin Program starts in the 6th grade and progresses through the Upper School to the Advanced Placement level.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Teach 5 sections of Latin ranging from 6th grade to AP Latin.
Contribute to the ongoing design and development of the 6-12 grade Latin curriculum.
Plan and develop quality instructional lessons and assessments appropriate to the level and needs of each class.
Incorporate creative instructional techniques in the classroom using a variety of methods, including technology.
Establish a classroom environment conducive to student learning and achievement.
Collaborate and work cooperatively with all language teachers within the Middle and Upper school departments.
Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Manage and fulfill all other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Advanced proficiency in Latin (poetry and prose) and knowledge of classical studies.
Minimum of three years experience teaching; multiple levels of Latin preferred.
