The Baldwin School is seeking a talented Middle School Art teacher to begin August, 2019. This position will focus on both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art-making. We welcome candidates who have experience in some combination of these fields, as the actual teaching assignment may involve multiple areas.
Relevant classroom teaching experience is expected, particularly at the Middle School level. In addition to the ability to teach the subject material effectively, engage students positively, and interact productively with colleagues and parents, the successful candidate will have a knowledge of and strong facility in multiple art media and the ability to organize an art studio safely and effectively.
Able to engage and challenge all students in rigorous content, utilizing well-planned lessons
Creative in instructional techniques and classroom management strategies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with students, colleagues and parents
Seeks feedback to further on-going personal and professional growth
Well organized, flexible and collaborative
Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive school community
Has excitement, joy and passion for teaching Art to Middle School students
B.A. in Art, Art Education or a related field, M.A. preferred, in either the specific subject area or education.
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant classroom teaching experience required, preferably in an independent school setting
Interest and experience in the purposeful use of technology in the classroom
Demonstrated experience with interdisciplinary project-based learning and cross divisional collaboration preferred
